These pictures are just a small example of the youth ministry here at St. Uriel's. The pictures posted here are activities and ministries which our teens are active in the local community: Lockins, VBS, Asbury Park ministry, Shrove Tuesday, Wednesday night youth meetings, et al. For pictures of our Mission Trips over the years, go to Mission Trips.
Each year our youth group goes on a mission trip. These mission trips can be live changing experiences for these kids. This year, their mission trip took them to York, PA. There, the youth group joined with other youth groups from around the country where they were active in working with the disabled, the elderly, and the indigent. Visit our Photo Album, for more pictures our Mission Trips.
At the heart of the church's mission is the challenge of discipleship, of following Jesus. All ministry with adolescents must be directed toward presenting young people with the Good News of Jesus Christ and inviting and challenging them to become His disciples. If we are to succeed, the church must offer our young people a spiritually challenging and world-shaping vision that meets their hunger for the chance to participate in a worthy adventure.
What is essential in the life of the church are young people, who know how to speak to the heart with the joy of the Gospel and the strength of the Mass. This is the goal of our youth ministry at St. Uriel's.
There is only one purpose for our Youth Ministry and that is to lead our teens into a deeper relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. It is only in knowing Him can our life have any real meaning. Our blessed Lord wants us to live in a love relationship with Him and then be Christ to the world. Our St. Uriel’s Youth Ministry seeks to live out our relationship in Him by:
1. Worship 2. Learning 3. Ministering to others in His Name 4. Loving life as He has given it to us
It is difficult to be a teenage in today’s world. With the rapid growth of sexually active youth, beginning as early as in the primary grades, we continue to teach abstinence and the respect for life beginning at conception. We have just returned from an awesome experience at YouthQuake 2005 where we have come to learn that we have been chosen and called by Jesus. We wish to be claimed by our Lord, not the world.
